A New Theory To Share

After observing hundreds of EP Coaching cases, I have the following new theory to share.

People come to EP coaching mainly due to difficulties and challenges encountered in life. There could be a great variety of issues : sickness, depression, relationship problems, financial problem, career, marriage, children with excessive stress, hallucination, phobia, allergy, business, loss in direction in life .....

I also observe people in serious sickness or die at relatively young age, they can be at the peak of their success in life, or they can live a very humble life.

I try to formulate a Energy-Model to make sense of all these observations, hence a new theory.

When we are born, we are given a set of energies to manage. Broadly there are two types ...

  • [A] Extrovert-Energy (or, Yang-Energy) and
  • [B] Introvert-Energy (or, Yin-Energy)

In each set of energies, these are positive and negative energies, which are manifested, positively or negatively, and / or both.

When we gain our maturity and wisdom in life we learn to balance and align the energies in the respective sets i.e. Extrovert-energies and Introvert-energies so as we live a life of abundance and meaningfulness.

Hence, a matured Extrovert-Energy person plays a prominent role in the society. He or she usually plays the role as a leader, whose action and influence can bring great contribution to mankind.

Likewise, a matured Introvert-Energy person plays a prominent role in the society. He or she usually plays the role as a guru, writer, singer, artists, scientist, healer, whose action and influence can bring great contribution to mankind too.

Problems arise in the following four types ..

Type 1:

Excessive and Compulsive manifestation of Extrovert-Energy.

For example, over compulsively charging forward, wanting to win or achieve, to make more money, ..whether in the fields of business, career, finance, domineering in the family or community, dictating people to his or her own ways of doing things, aggressive in behaviors.

Type 2 :

Excessive and Compulsive manifestation of Introvert-Energy.

For example, over compulsively withdrawn, isolated, some do so with the rationale of not competing in the rat-race, or addiction to drug, or in the meditation centres or church. Or they can become extremely dependent on other people. They simply give up. Or, they become depressed and live in their own world.

Type 3 :

Excessive and Compulsive manifestation of Extrovert-Energy when the person concerned belongs to Introvert-Energy, e.g. a farmer who can contribute his share to the mankind, but insists that he is the General or King.

They have inflated ego. Outwardly they act like a tiger, but inside is a cat. With such excessive energies charging outward, they may attend successes, money and reputation, but they seldom feel relaxed. They want to achieve more, failing which, they feel they loose their identity, which is only their outward masks. They are un-aware that they are discharging limited energy from their Introvert-Energy. Such behavior usually arises from core-fears.

Type 4 :

Excessive and Compulsive manifestation of Introvert-Energies when the person concerned belongs to Extrovert-Energy, e.g. a person with army general capability hides himself in the jungle and become a farmer.

They become over humble, have very little assertiveness. They reject opportunity to take up leadership role even though they have the capability. Usually set back or failure in early life kills their confidence. They are afraid to get hurt again.

The above unbalanced, misaligned energy-management affect the well being of the person, with symptoms like sickness, early death, poor performance, depression, or simply feeling empty and unhappy.

Manifestation of such energies is through our personality and our psychology, the way we think, act and feel.

Besides the fact that most people are not too familiar with his or her own personality, what is more challenging is people do not know the underlying psychology that drives such personality, behavior or performance. Psychology includes our limiting beliefs, emotions and feelings.

In EP coaching, we help client to gets in touch with the underlying limiting beliefs, emotions and feelings and create awareness in them their hidden potentials as per their personality, and how the energies are to be managed and aligned daily.

Organizational Learning

With the above introduced theory and energy-model, we can now make some insightful observations of the human dynamic in an organization.

Organization requires Leader-followers or boss-subordinate structures to carry out the necessary functions to achieve its business goals.

How well is the model of [A] Extrovert-Energy (or, Yang-Energy) and [B] Introvert-Energy (or, Yin-Energy) manifested, and how it contributes towards a positive or negative outcome to the organization?

We will discuss some scenarios in the respective 4 types.

Type 1:

Excessive and Compulsive manifestation of Extrovert-Energy.

This is the type whereby the person concerned is Extrovert-Energy, and the person is placed in a leadership position with given authority. This is double reinforcement, self driven Extrovert-Energy and given with external power and authority. We can imagine the chaos and frustration created both for the person concerned and the organization with the excessive and compulsive Extrovert-Energy. You may have experienced such type of boss!

Type 2 :

Excessive and Compulsive manifestation of Introvert-Energy.
This is the type of staff who has a very narrow focus, again reinforced by the organizational structure like compartmentalized division of work. “Do your work, mind your own business, keep silent, don’t rock the boat, even if the current incidents could be detrimental to the future business performance.”

The staffs concerned are usually of compliance type of behaviour, taking no initiatives, no thinking out of the box. They carry out the assigned tasks faithfully, with no complaints.

Type 3 :

Excessive and Compulsive manifestation of Extrovert-Energy when the person concerned belongs to Introvert-Energy, e.g. a farmer who can contribute his share to the mankind, but insists that he is the General or King.

This type of behaviour is very common in the organization. Being Introvert-Energy type, they are obedient, co-operative especially to the upper management. It is because of such behaviour, they get promoted to a leader position, which is not aligned with his or her Introvert-Energy.
They work hard, try harder, usually without effective solution. They become unhappy, depressed and wish to retire early to read books in their own private world, an Introvert-Energy behaviour.

Type 4 :

Excessive and Compulsive manifestation of Introvert-Energies when the person concerned belongs to Extrovert-Energy, e.g. a person with army general capability hides himself in the jungle and become a farmer.

Being Extrovert-Energy type, they are resourceful and out-spoken. But this usually clashes with the management. Then they are side-lined, never get promoted to be a leader, which is a role they could be most effective.

They also become unhappy, depressed and wish to retire early to take up important leadership role in a charity organization, which aligns well with their Extrovert-Energy. Usually they excel well and make great contribution.

When Organizational management learns well EP coaching, they could manage more effectively their current resources (i.e. [A] Extrovert-Energy and [B] Introvert-Energy people), benefiting their members and business.
